A little bit of history

Known for its history and its 18th century architecture, you'll receive a warm welcome when you arrive at the Bear Hotel. Just a short walk from Havant town centre and perfectly located for the nearby South Downs, it's the ideal base from which to explore your surroundings.

The corridors and the rooms at the Bear Hotel are packed with history. Historically frequented by royalty (including Queen Victoria), prime ministers such as Winston Churchill and even President Eisenhower in the Second World War, it's a hotel worthy of such esteemed guests. With such heritage and traditional settings, the Bear Hotel makes the ideal venue to celebrate special occasions like weddings, anniversaries and landmark birthdays.

Today, you can enjoy a sleep fit for a president in one of the hotel’s 42 bedrooms. Your four-legged friend can also get the presidential treatment in one of the hotel’s dog friendly rooms as well. Plus, you’ll find all the mod cons you need for an enjoyable stay – from an en-suite bathroom to free Wi-Fi, and tea and coffee making facilities.

You'll find a car park on site if you're driving, whilst Havant train station is under 1 mile away and Southampton Airport just 22 miles away. The hotel is ideally located for Southampton and Portsmouth as well as to explore some of the south coast's best beaches. Hopping on the ferry to the Isle of Wight is super simple, and the hotel is just a 12-minute drive from the cross-channel ferry terminal at Portsmouth.
