Pure relaxation awaits

Dating back to the 13th century, the Bear Hotel, Hungerford, is one of the oldest inns in England. Today, you'll find a hotel packed with character and plenty of features remaining from the old days, plus the modern touches and amenities you need to have a restful and pleasant stay. It also makes a fantastic venue to host special occasions like weddings, anniversary parties and family get-togethers.

A stay at the Bear is all about relaxation. You can enjoy waterside views of the River Dun from the garden decking in the warmer months and in winter you'll be kept nice and snug inside this cosy hotel. When you're ready to turn in, there are 40 bedrooms all promising contemporary decor, comfy beds and crisp white linen to make sure you have a restful and peaceful night. Some rooms even come with balconies and garden views which are just delightful in spring and summer. And for ultimate relaxation, many of the rooms have freestanding roll-top baths which are essential for a blissful soak after a long day.

The charming market town of Hungerford is set in the heart of the North Wessex Downs. The hotel itself is found within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, meaning the local scenery can't be beaten - you'll certainly want to get out and explore. You can learn about England's past at historical sites such as Silbury Hill, Ashdown House, Donnington Castle, or Highclere Castle. And if you fancy a little retail therapy, Reading and Swindon are close by, as is Newbury Races.

Recharge in the bar & restaurant

After exploring the local area and before or after you treat yourself to a soak in a roll-top bath, make your way to the bar and restaurant to enjoy a relaxing evening or lunch. You'll find a selection of British pub classics to temp your tastebuds, whether you fancy a burger, a steak cooked just the way you like it or a summer salad. You'll also choose from a great selection of fine wines and real ales too.
