The George Hotel is a friendly, family run, thatched 15th century Country Town Hotel, situated in the centre of the historic town of Castle Cary, nestling in the beautiful undulating hills of South Somerset. The George Hotel offers all-round hospitality any time of the day and is an ideal base for the many local attractions.
A traditional A La Carte menu, alongside the chef's daily specials, can be enjoyed in either of the two contrasting bars at the George Hotel, or, for more intimate dining the lovely beamed and wood panelled restaurant is available. The traditional George Bar has its original Inglenook fireplace and Elm beam dating back to the 10th century and the recently opened, modern Bistro style lounge, features a canopied bar. The quality home-cooked cuisine can be complimented with a good product range from the bar and the choice of traditional or connoisseur wines is exceptional.
All the seventeen en-suite guest rooms have been individually designed (some traditionally, others with a modern appeal) and offer all the home comforts including colour T/V, radio, direct dial telephone and tea/coffee-making facilities. There are five bedrooms, built with castle remains, located off the rear courtyard and parking area, one of which offers wheelchair access.
